About Jenny Claar Foley

Chartered Counselling Psychologist

I completed my degree in Psychology in 1998 at City University, London. I then went on to complete an MSc and a Post MSc Diploma in Counselling Psychology, also at City University, leading to acquiring Chartered Psychologist status in 2003. I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the regulatory body for counselling and clinical psychologists.

I have experience of working in Mental Health and Primary Care settings and of working in both the public and private sector. I now work independently and split my time between working with individuals and working in a residential school.

My work with individuals consist of providing psychological assessment and treatment of a wide range of presenting issues with age groups ranging from school age and up. I am qualified in using a number of therapeutic approaches, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I accept referrals from GPs, Occupational Health Departments, Psychiatrists and Health Insurers in addition to self-referrals. I also accept legal instructions and will carry out psychological assessments and provide expert witness reports. I have completed Certified Expert Witness Training Parts 1 to 4 through the British Psychological Society.

Two days a week I work in a residential school for children with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. I carry out individual therapeutic work with the children and provide advisory consultations to staff as well as facilitating reflective practise sessions for all educational and care staff.
