About Adults Therapy

Most people will at some point in their lives experience difficult situations, and associated emotions, that go beyond the normal day-to-day challenges. This can happen as a result of an adverse life event or changing circumstances, or as a result of an accumulation of negative experiences combined with negative habits in the way we have been trying to deal with those experiences. Sometimes we find ourselves in a place where our usual coping strategies are no longer working or we have simply ‘run out of steam’. Psychological therapy can help us to identify and deepen our understanding of our difficulties, as well as help us to develop effective strategies for dealing with and overcoming them.

I offer treatment for a range of psychological conditions including

  • Anxiety and related conditions such as panic disorder and phobias
  • Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Work-related stress
  • Marital/relationship difficulties
  • Sexual problems
  • Bereavement
  • Psychological adjustment to a medical diagnosis
  • Inappropriate anger
  • Low self-esteem

I am trained and experienced in the use of a variety of treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I always aim to adopt a treatment approach to suit the individual needs of each client.
